Mizzou’s first football game of the season: What you need to know
The Mizzou Tigers will hit Faurot Field at 11 a.m. Saturday for their first football game of the season.
Traffic in mid-Missouri will be heavier not only because of Labor Day weekend, but also thanks to the fans driving in for the game.
There are some areas in Columbia that are undergoing road construction, which might add to the traffic. Those areas include Conley Road near the I-70 and Highway 63 connector, Stadium Boulevard near Highway 63 and a few streets near University Hospital.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area around University Hospital, which will have construction crews on-site. Permit holders for the parking lots by Mick Deaver Memorial Drive will need to enter from Stadium Boulevard.
For those going to the game with some belongings, a clear plastic bag is mandatory.
The clear bag policy states that any bags brought into the stadium must be completely transparent and of certain sizes. Bags that are not transparent are only allowed if they are 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches or smaller. The maximum size fits credit cards and IDs. You can find descriptions of what is and is not allowed here.
The Missouri Department of Transportation officials said traffic after the game is usually the heaviest. MoDOT crews can control certain traffic lights in the area if they notice traffic is backed up.
