No one hurt after car catches fire in Cooper County

A car was destroyed in an afternoon fire on Highway 179, just off I-70 in Cooper County.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper told ABC 17 news the fire stemmed from a mechanical issue.

Everyone escaped safely and the car was towed just before 7:30 p.m.

Smoke could be seen for miles. A viewer sent the below photo.
