Five in custody after two Cole County burglaries

UPDATE 3:34 P.M.: The Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired on Walker Road. When deputies got to the scene, the suspect had fled. Deputies went inside the home and found items that appeared to be stolen from a convenience store. There was also methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the home.

Deputies found the suspect in the attic of the home and took him into custody. Deputies interviewed other subjects inside of the home and learned that the stolen items were from the two Cole County burglaries that had happened earlier on Wednesday and a Moniteau County burglary that happened on Aug. 18.

ORIGINAL STORY: Cole County Deputies responded to two separate burglaries in Cole County on Wednesday. The burglaries happened at Rainbow Market on 4404 Rainbow Drive at 2:11 a.m. and Pass N Gas on 13108 Hwy Route C at 4:58 a.m.

Both burglaries involved suspects forcing entry and stealing several items.

Moniteau County Sheriff’s Department contacted Cole County deputies with some possible suspects. Cole County Deputies responded, and while working with the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Department, were able to implicate five people in the burglaries. Three suspects were taken to the Cole County Sheriff’s Office and two were taken to the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office. One of the five suspects was a juvenile and later taken to Cole County JAC.
