Assault, child enticement arrests connected

Two men are in the Boone County Jail Friday and police say their arrests are connected.

Police say they responded to the Welcome Inn around 7 p.m. Thursday for a disturbance call.

They say they found one man unconscious on the ground. An officer gave aid to the man who apparently had swelling on his face and blood coming from his nose.

Police say that victim is William White. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police used surveillance video to identify James McDaniel as the man who assaulted White.

When police tried to arrest him, they say he tensed up and tried to pull away. Police eventually used pepper spray to subdue him.

McDaniel was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and assault.

White was also arrested during the incident.

According to police, a woman told them that White tried to take her 12-year-old daughter into his hotel room. The woman said White continued to grab her daughter’s hand and asked how old she was.

Another witness told police White was told to leave the girl alone because she was only 12 years old. The witness said White said there was no way the girl was only 12 years old and continued to follow her.

The girl told police she was afraid White was going to grab her again and force her into his room.

White was arrested for enticement of a child.
