Man charged with stealing from Centralia convenience store

A man is charged in Centralia, accused of stealing $17,486.36 from a Casey’s General Store.

Charles McGinness was charged after officers said he stole the money while working as the store manager from January through March 2017. McGinness allegedly stole money from the store’s vault, took store cards without reimbursing the company and falsified bank deposits. To cover up the stolen funds, McGinness would enter fake checks in financial records to show correct financial amounts to corporate officials.

During an interview with law enforcement, McGinness allegedly offered to show where in the records he stole money. However, he quickly ended the interview and asked for a lawyer shortly after.

McGinness is charged with felony stealing of $750 or more.
