Suspect in nearly six-hour long Columbia standoff charged

A suspect in a Columbia standoff is now charged with several felonies.

Christopher Moore was charged Monday with two counts of rape, sodomy and armed criminal action. He was also charged with first-degree burglary, and failure to register as a sex offender.

Moore allegedly forced his way into a home and forced a 22-year-old woman to perform sexual acts at gunpoint, according to Columbia police.

According to court documents ABC 17 News obtained, officers saw the front door was broken in,and the door frame was broken in. The victim told police the suspect grabbed her by the face and told her to be quiet along with making sure her son was quiet.

The victim said she was forced into a room at gunpoint and Moore made her perform sexual acts, then according to court documents, he raped her.

The victim told officers Moore made her sit on the toilet until he left, taking sheets from the bed with him. Moore allegedly told the victim multiple times throughout the rape that he would kill her and her children.

It was later determined that Moore was hiding in a home in the 700 block of W. Cunningham Drive. Officers said in court documents they observed Moore carrying home items along with a bed sheet. The sheet was left in the grass, officers examined the sheet to match a pattern on the victim’s sheet. Within the sheet was a crow bar.

Officers attempted to knock on Moore’s apartment, but there was no answer. Officers got a search warrant and were able to take Moore into custody.

ABC 17 News looked into Moore’s criminal history and found that he was convicted on a prostitution charge in 2014, along with failure to register as a sex offender.
