MoDOT: Average crowd for Eclipse weekend, preparing for Monday

There were no serious traffic problems or increase in 911 call volume during the weekend before the eclipse, according to MoDOT and the Boone County Emergency Management Office.

They said the weekend was average in terms of crowd size. MoDOT said they sent employees home after preparing for a large increase in tourists and visitors for the eclipse. They also said the real test is Monday.

The County’s Emergency Management Office expects 25,000-100,000 extra drivers to arrive in Boone County on Monday, and expects 5,000 at Columbia’s Cosmo Park to watch the solar eclipse.

Drivers are encouraged to pack well for the trip, as traffic delays should be expected. For a constantly updated map of traffic delays, click here. And for more information from MoDOT on the traveling for the eclipse click here.
