Man escapes from Callaway County Jail

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man escaped from the Callaway County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office said Seth MacVittie, 36, of Fulton, was being held in the jail for a pending court appearance for receiving stolen property.

As of right now, authorities say there has not been any indication that MacVittie poses an immediate threat to the community.

ABC 17 News looked into MacVittie’s criminal history and found he’s spent time behind bars for statutory rape and sodomy, as well as having or delivering a weapon at a correctional facility.

The Fulton Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation.

Anyone who has information about MacVittie, is asked to call 911 or the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office at 573-642-7291, Option 6.
