Fourth person charged in connection to shooting death of Clinton police officer
UPDATE 8/18: On Aug. 11, Brandie Noble denied in an interview with law enforcement that she saw McCarthy or any guns in her home on the night of the shooting.
On Aug. 16, during another interview with law enforcement, Noble changed her statement and said that she saw MCCarthy in her home two hours after the shooting on Aug. 7. Noble also said she saw McCarthy holding a gun. Noble has four juveniles with her at the time. She said she didn’t know when McCarthy left the home.
When asked about why she didn’t contact police, she said she wanted to but was “freaked out” and didn’t know what to say or do.
ORIGINAL STORY: A Henry County woman was charged Thursday in connection to the shooting death of Clinton police officer Gary Michael Jr.
The Henry County Prosecutor’s Office charged Brandie Noble, of Clinton, with hindering prosecution along with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Department confirms she is the wife of William Noble, who was arrested and charged last week with tampering with evidence.
Investigators said he disposed of the rifle believed to have been used by suspect Ian McCarthy in the killing of officer Michael on Aug. 6.
Jacob Johnson was also charged with hindering prosecution in connection to the incident. Authorities received reports that Johnson allegedly drove McCarthy to the area where police arrested McCarthy, according to court documents.
