Settlement over “Free Cruise” robocall could get you up to $900

A marketing group will have to pay up for those annoying robocalls saying you won a free cruise after a settlement was reached in a class action lawsuit.

Those who got those phone calls are now eligible for up to $900.

The lawsuit claims Resort Marketing Group (RMG) made pre-recorded robocalls from July 2009 to March 2014 offering free cruises with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Line. The lawsuit claims the cruise lines authorized the company to make calls on their behalf.

The lawsuit says the agency violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act in making those calls.

A settlement was agreed to last month and a fund of at least $7 million and up to $12.5 million will be established and maintained for eligible members.

Those impacted can get a maximum of $300 from RMG per call and victims can claim up to three calls per telephone number included in the official call records.

That means those impacted could get a maximum of $900 per number.

You can check your phone number here to determine if you’re eligible to submit a claim.

All claims must be submitted by November 3.
