Boone County Emergency Services say up to 100,000 drivers could visit county

Boone county could see as many as 100,000 extra drivers for the eclipse on Monday, according to the county’s Office of Emergency Management. Although they say it is difficult to estimate the number of visitors because so much is dependent on the weather the day of the eclipse.

School buses will plan for traffic delays on Monday by carrying water in case they are slowed by the volume of cars.

Emergency Management discourages everyone from stopping on the side of the road or the shoulder of the highway during the eclipse. They say doing so would add to traffic and impede on emergency vehicle’s ability to move around cars.

On Monday there will be a free shuttle running from Columbia Mall to Cosmo Park, which will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
