Randolph County man charged with assault after cutting victim’s face with knife

A man is charged with several felonies in Columbia after police say he strangled and threatened a woman.

Joshua Sartin is charged with two counts of domestic abuse, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.

Boone County deputies said they responded to the 6400 block of Highway 40 on Sunday. That’s where a woman said Sartin became angry with her when she confronted him about infidelity. She said he held a knife to her throat and cut her on the face.

Deputies later responded to the same address for a follow-up call. The victim said Sartin was angry she had called law enforcement. He threatened to kill her and told her he would find someone to kill her if he didn’t do it himself.

Deputies found Sartin on Monday at a hotel on Highway 40. When they confronted him and tried to take him into custody, Sartin allegedly fought them.
