Feeling more like August with increasing rain chances

TODAY: It’s beginning to feel more like August today, as temperatures this afternoon are climbing into the lower 80s. We’ll continue to see this warming trend through the day, as southerly winds under 10 mph continue to filter in the warm and humid conditions. While this afternoon will be on the dry side, isolated storms are possible north of I-70 as we head into the early evening. Through the day, temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s, with head indices in the 90s.

TONIGHT: It will be another warm and muggy night with an increasing storm chance as we head into the evening hours. Storms tonight will begin to move into mid-Missouri from the southwest tracking east through the overnight hours. These overnight storms are not looking to be severe. Temperatures will only drop into the low 70s by morning.

EXTENDED: Scattered showers and t-storms will continue to move through the area Wednesday morning. Storms on Wednesday could be severe as there is a marginal risk for severe weather. With this we could expect potentially damaging winds and large hail. The greatest chance for storms looks to be Wednesday afternoon into the evening. High temperatures on Wednesday will reach into the upper 80s with heat indices reaching the upper 90s due to the humidity. Plenty of moisture in the air will allow for the chance for some heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts of .50″ to 1.0″ are expected in most areas with some areas getting up to 1.50″ due to heavy rain in some storms. Highest rainfall amounts are expected west of HWY 63 and north of I-70 from Tuesday through Wednesday. Any lingering showers early Thursday morning will end and we’ll be dry until Friday night with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s to end the work week with lower humidity. Our next chance of rain comes Friday night into Saturday as the summer-like weather continues. Watch ABC17 News for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
