UPDATE: One dead after crash at Finger Lakes State Park
UPDATE: The woman who died in the accident was driving an ATV which overturned on a steep hill, according to the preliminary investigation. It happened about a half a mile off of Peabody Road.
A friend was also operating an ATV and led first responders, the Boone County Fire Department, to the flipped ATV. The woman passed away after responders attempted to perform first aid.
All part of the trail are now open, but the ATV is still on scene as Park Rangers continue their investigation. Both lanes of Peabody Road are open.
More information on the identity of the victim will be released after authorities contact the family.
ORIGINAL STORY: One person is dead after a crash at Finger Lakes State Park, ABC 17 News has confirmed
The Boone County Medical Examiner is on scene.
Boone County Fire Protection District personnel have blocked part of Peabody Road from Highway 63. One lane of traffic, as well as part of the trail in the area, has been blocked off for the investigation.
ABC 17 News crews report a medical helicopter arrived on scene, but did not transport anyone back to the hospital.
It’s not clear yet what the person crashed from, or how the crash happened.
