Trending drier for the weekend across Mid-Missouri

TODAY: After a wet start to the day across parts of Mid-Missouri, the remainder of the afternoon is looking to be on the dry side. The cold front responsible for the morning storms will continue to track to the south, pulling in cooler and drier air. This is in response to an area of high pressure that will build in on the backside of the cold front. As this occurs, we’ll gradually see skies clearing through the day with northerly winds under 10 mph. Highs today will climb into the lower ot mid 80s across most of Mid-Missouri, making it feel like another comfortable afternoon.

TONIGHT: Throughout all of mid-Missouri we will see clearing conditions as we head into this evening. A light northeasterly breeze under 8 mph will continue to reinforce the cooler and drier air. We’ll see temperatures bottom out in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Patchy areas of fog are possible where rain has occurred the past several days.

EXTENDED: Heading into the weekend, the trend is looking to become drier across Mid-Missouri. High temperatures will reach the low 80s Saturday with overnight lows in the low 60s. A chance of showers and t-storms returns Sunday with mostly cloudy skies and high temperatures near 80. The trend with Sunday’s rain continues to be far southern Mid-Missouri, as high pressure will likely limit just how far north the front can retreat. As we head into next week, we look to see temperatures climb back towards normal averages for this time of the year. The cold front that brought rain and storms Friday morning, will lift northward as a warm front. This will set the stage for daily rain chances through most of next week, with temperatures climbing in the the mid and upper 80s.
