Sara Walsh wins 50th district House seat

UPDATE: Republican Sara Walsh beat Democrat Michela Skelton. Walsh received 3,737 votes while Skelton garnered 3,439.

Voters in three counties will decide which person to send to the state House of Representatives in a special election.

Republican Sara Walsh and Democrat Michela Skelton, both of Ashland, are seeking the 50th District seat left open by Caleb Jones’ departure earlier this year. Jones, a Republican, took a spot in Gov. Eric Greitens’ administration.

The district covers southern Boone County, including parts of Columbia, as well as parts of Cole, Cooper and Moniteau counties.

ABC 17 News interviewed both Walsh and Skelton before the election.
