Dry start to week follows weekend flooding
After a soggy weekend, many across Mid-Missouri are welcoming the dry conditions expected by Monday. Rain totals from the overnight storms were near 4.5″ in the Lake of the Ozarks region with some areas seeing higher accumulation.
As surface high pressure slides in from the northwest throughout Monday, dry weather will settle into Mid-Missouri through Wednesday. Due to persistent northerly flow and moderate cloud coverage on Monday, temperatures are expected to stay below 80s degrees for the high.
Clearing conditions on Tuesday will finally bring back mostly sunny skies to the area with temperatures finally breaking 80 degrees by the afternoon. Remember, seasonal temperatures for the beginning of August are typically in the upper 80s. We will be seeing temperatures stay at or slightly below the lower 80s for the rest of the week.
Wednesday will bring more dry and partly sunny conditions. This is expected to change when several shortwaves will trek through the area Wednesday night into the weekend. This will bring many off and on rain chances.
Instability looks weak at this time, so we not tracking any severe threats at the moment with these rain chances. We will keep tracking these storms throughout the week to see if any new developments evolve.
