Man charged with murder after victim dies from shooting on I-70 and Highway 63 connector

A Columbia man has been charged with second-degree murder almost three weeks after a victim died from injuries in a shooting on I-70 and Highway 63 connector.

According to CaseNet, a grand jury indicted Denico Sanchez Crawley, 30, of Columbia on Friday.

Crawley was arrested on June 26 for felony armed criminal action, felony unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree felony domestic assault, first-degree felony assault and felony possession of a controlled substance.

Court documents from the arrest said Crawley pulled up alongside the victims’ vehicle on June 26 while merging onto I-70 from Business Loop. The victims said Crawley fired several times toward the driver’s side of their vehicle. Both victims were shot multiple times.

One of the victims, Quenten Hurt, 25, died July 13.

According to CaseNet, Crawley will appear at an arraignment hearing Monday morning.
