Heavy rain and flooding possible Saturday

TODAY: We’ll have an increasing chance of rain through the day. Showers and thunderstorms will move in by mid-morning near HWY 65 in western Missouri, spreading east through the afternoon. Most of Mid-Missouri is under a Flash Flood Watch for today and into Sunday. We have a marginal risk for severe weather for the southwestern half of Mid-Missouri with isolated strong wind to 60 mph or 1″ hail, with a slightly greater threat west of HWY 65. Temperatures today will reach the low to mid-70s.

TONIGHT: Scattered afternoon storms will continue into early evening across Mid-Missouri, becoming more widespread Saturday night. These will be efficient rain producers and heavy rain is likely Saturday night which could lead to flash flooding. Rainfall amounts of 1-3″ are likely with some areas seeing up to 5 inches of rain through early Sunday morning. Low temperatures will be in the mid-60s.

EXTENDED: Widespread rain early Sunday morning will taper off and end through the day with only spotty showers by afternoon. It will continue to be mild with highs only reaching the mid 70s Sunday. For the start of next week, we’ll warm to near 80 degrees Monday and Tuesday with rain chances returning Wednesday and Thursday.
