Heavy overnight rainfall instigates flooding

TONIGHT: Most of Mid-Missouri is under a Flash Flood Watch for today and into Sunday. A Marginal Risk for severe weather exists for areas west of US 63 with the primary threats including isolated strong wind near 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. The current wave of rain will last overnight, leading to the potential for flooding. Rain will stay mostly south of I-70 with a few areas to the north seeing some accumulation. Rainfall amounts of 1-3″ are likely with some areas seeing up to 5 inches of rain through early Sunday morning. Low temperatures will be in the mid-60s.

SUNDAY: Rain will continue into Sunday morning as the storms move to the southeast. Expect the rain to gradually taper off throughout the day with the high temperature only reaching the mid 70s. By the evening hours, much of Mid-Missouri will be seeing dry conditions with overnight temperatures in the lower 60s.

EXTENDED: For the start of next week, we’ll warm to upper 70s on Monday. Tuesday will finally bring temperatures to 80 degrees under sunny skies. Rain chances return on Wednesday, continuing into Thursday. Watch ABC 17 News and follow ABC 17 Stormtrack on Twitter for continued updates.
