Wednesday is the warmest day this week, before a strong cold front

TODAY: Temperatures will gradually climb into the mid and upper 80s by the afternoon. It will be slightly muggy, which will allow for heat indices to approach 90 degrees, but Wednesday is not looking oppressive. Spotty storms are possible across Mid-Missouri this afternoon, mainly after 2 pm. The area with the greatest chance to see rain will be areas along and south of I-44. The chance for rain should move out of the area by 10 pm.

TONIGHT: It will be another mild and dry night under partly cloudy skies, as temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 60s. Through the night we will see a light and variable breeze, which will allow for a chance of patchy fog for the Thursday morning commute.

EXTENDED: After Wednesday, we will see a cold front track through Mid-Missouri on Thursday, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. With most of the energy well to the north of Mid-Missouri, we likely won’t see many strong or severe storms. Current timing shows the majority of the storms to arrive late in the afternoon to evening. This will be a strong cold front as temperatures will drop significantly behind it. Heavy rain isn’t a threat with this fast-moving system. Most places will only see around .25″ of rain, but some areas will receive up to .50″. High temperatures will reach the mid 80s Thursday, but will cool into the mid to upper 70s Friday as winds shift out of the north under mostly sunny skies. Friday night will be unseasonably cool as we dip back into the upper 50s . The mild weather will continue into the weekend as high temperatures struggle to reach about 80 degrees. A chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Sunday. Watch ABC17 News and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for continued updates.
