Seasonable Wednesday night, with storms arriving Thursday

TONIGHT: It will be another mild and dry night under partly cloudy skies, as temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 60s. Through the night we will see winds primarily residing out of the southwest under 7 mph.

THURSDAY: It will be a comfortable start to the day, with mostly sunny skies greeting most of Mid-Missouri. Through the day, westerly winds under 10 mph will pull in more warmth through the day. Highs will once again top out in the mid to upper 80s across the region ahead of an advancing cold front. This frontal passage is set to track through Mid-Missouri through the late afternoon and early evening hours, bringing with it a chance for strong storms. Most of the storms will hold off until after the evening commute. Any storms we see tomorrow will have a threat for damaging winds and large hail. Up to a .25″ of rain is likely by the end of the day, with heavier amounts falling near I-44. When the front clears, we will see cooler and drier air filter into Mid-Missouri, with lows bottoming out in the mid to upper 50s.

EXTENDED: By Friday, the cooler air will finally have filtered into Mid-Missouri, with a nice treat in store for the region. Highs will only top out in the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. As it is summer, we will see temperatures warm a degree or two each and every day, but clouds and the persistent northwest flow will keep temperatures hovering near 80 degrees. This will be about 8-12 degrees below average for the first week of August. The mild weather will continue into the weekend as high temperatures struggle to reach 80 degrees. A chance of showers and thunderstorms returns as we head through the evening hours on Saturday and into Sunday. This line of storms is likely to bring heavy rainfall amounts, primarily to those along and west of Hwy 63. Watch ABC17 News and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for continued updates.
