Shooting in northeast Columbia, teen with life-threatening injuries

Columbia police are investigating a shooting that happened in northeast Columbia on Tuesday.

Police have confirmed that a 15-year-old boy suffered from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The shooting took place at Oakland Gravel Road and Parks Edge Place just before 3 p.m.

ABC 17 News had crews on scene and saw police placing evidence markers around the front of a home. Police said the initial investigation reveals the shooting happened outside but wouldn’t comment on what sort of evidence they collected.

Neighbors told ABC 17 News they heard one gunshot. One neighbor said the 15-year-old was a good kid who enjoyed playing basketball outside with friends. Another neighbor said the neighborhood is family friendly.

“I see little kids running around all the time, so I was very shocked to hear about this,” Erika Warhol, one neighborhood resident said.

Police haven’t released any information on possible suspect(s).
