Holts Summit man arrested for multiple felony charges, assaulting law enforcement officer

Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in the 12000 block of County Road 4031 near Holts Summit on Tuesday in attempt to find Zachary Fewins, 24, of Holts Summit.

Fewins was a wanted fugitive in Cole County for several felony charges, including probation violation and motor vehicle theft.

When deputies got to the home, they found Fewins and attempted to take him into custody. Fewins then led the deputies on a foot chase.

Once Fewins was caught, he continued to resist deputies before being subdued. Fewins was also in possession of a controlled substance when he was arrested.

Fewins is being held on no bond and is charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer, attempted escape from custody and possession of a controlled substance

During Fewins arrest, the arresting deputy was injured and taken to a local Jefferson City hospital with moderate injuries. The deputy is expected to be released from the hospital later today.
