Record number of responses for Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District

According to the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District, July 2017 has set a record for responses in a single month for the district.

As of Monday morning, the District has answered 100 emergency calls.

“We have been watching a steady increase in call volume” says Fire Chief Dennis Reilly.

The District has made 74 more runs than this time last year. “I think the rebounding economy along with the growth and development that the District is experiencing, accounts for a lot of the run increase. We are well on our way to making 800 runs this year in a relatively small district as compared to some of our neighbors.” says Reilly.

District Officials say that the increase in call volume is one of the major reasons they are asking for a nine cent operating levy increase in August.
