Investigation underway after deadly plane crash in Ralls County

Two people from Arkansas are dead after a plane crash in northeast Missouri on Thursday morning.

According to the highway patrol, the victims are Bobby and Shannon Faulkner, both 41, of Greenwood, Arkansas.

Troopers said the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center gave GPS coordinates to help locate the missing aircraft at 11:24 p.m.

The highway patrol said the plane crashed around 4:50 a.m. Thursday.

According to ABC affiliate KHQA, the 2003 Zenith 701 single-engine aircraft crashed in a soybean field, about six miles northeast of Laddonia, Missouri, shortly after it took off from the airport in Mexico, Missouri, destined for Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Emergency crews were able to find the plane around 1 a.m Friday. The couple was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have not determined whether the aircraft stopped in Mexico, Missouri, for fuel or another reason. It’s also unknown where flight originated.

The aircraft’s designer, Zenith Aircraft Company, is an aircraft kit manufacturer based in Mexico, Missouri.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
