Columbia’s affordable housing would face cuts with proposed federal budget

Last week, the House Budget Committee shared a blueprint of the federal budget for fiscal year 2018. Included was a $14 billion cut in the House Financial Services Committee, which handles affordable housing and community development programs, over the next 10 years.

Empower Missouri and other organizations in Missouri and Columbia are voicing opposition to the cut, which they say would cripple existing programs that help low-income families.
