EXTE NDED: Wednesday looks to be the hottest day of the week as temperatures will climb into the mid 90s with humidity also on the rise. The heat index will range from 100-105 in the afternoon with winds from the south at 4-8 mph. As we head into Wednesday evening, an approaching cold front will bring a chance of storms. Storms will develop in northern Missouri by early evening, tracking southeast into Mid-Missouri as early as 9 PM near HWY 36. These will push to the southeast overnight through early morning Thursday, weakening as they do so. The bulk of the storms look to push into central mid-Mo after midnight. There is a marginal severe threat for areas along and south of I-70 with a slight severe threat along and north of I-70 Wednesday night. Damaging wind and large hail are the primary threats. Due to the slow movement of the cold front, additional storms are possible Thursday afternoon. Rainfall amounts from Wednesday night through Thursday of a half inch to an inch are possible north of I-70 with lower amounts south through Thursday. High temperatures will cool back into the mid to upper 80s Thursday through the weekend with nights in the 60s. Dry weather is expected from Friday through the weekend.
