Back-to-School Food Drive set to kick off July 31

ABC 17 News is teaming up with the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri next week to fight hunger in mid-Missouri.

According to the Missouri Hunger Atlas, 18.4 percent of people under the age of 18 in Boone County were considered food insecure in 2016. Almost 22 percent were on food stamps or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

To help your neighbors in need, donate to the Back-to-School Food Drive from July 31 to Aug. 4.

Donation barrels will be stationed at the Columbia Hy-Vee on West Broadway, Jefferson City Autoplex and Chapman Heating and Air Conditioning during that time.
