Heating up again, storms Wednesday night- Thursday

TONIGHT: We’ll have another fairly comfortable night as lows drop into the upper 60s with mostly clear skies and winds from the northeast up to 6 mph.

TUESDAY: The heat returns as high temperatures climb into the low 90s with a light east to southeast breeze under 8 mph and mostly sunny skies. The heat index will reach the mid to upper 90s in the afternoon.

EXTE NDED: Tuesday night will be warm and muggy as low temperatures drop into the low 70s, leading to a hot, humid day Wednesday which will be the hottest day this week. High temperatures will reach the mid 90s with the heat index 100-105 in the afternoon with winds from the south at 4-8 mph. There is a slight storm chance north of I-70 Wednesday afternoon into early evening but most storms will hold off until overnight as a cold front approaches. Storms will develop in northern Missouri by early evening, tracking southeast into Mid-Missouri as early as 8 PM near HWY 36. These will push to the southeast overnight through early morning Thursday. There is a marginal severe threat for areas along and north of HWY 50 with a slight severe threat along and north of HWY 24 Wednesday night. Damaging wind and large hail are the primary threats. Due to the slow movement of the cold front, additional storms are possible Thursday afternoon mainly along and south of I-70. Rainfall amounts from Wednesday night through Thursday of a half inch to an inch are possible north of I-70 with lower amounts south through Thursday. High temperatures will cool back into the mid to upper 80s Thursday through the weekend with nights in the 60s. Dry weather is expected from Friday through the weekend.
