Storms possible overnight Saturday, with “cooler” weather to follow

TONIGHT: Thanks to one of the hottest days we’ve seen in almost four years, the heat will take it’s time to exit overnight. We will see some relief though as an approaching cold front will spark some storms overnight into Sunday morning. Storms are likely to arrive in Mid-Missouri after 10 PM, with damaging winds and hail being the main threat. Due to a lack of upper level support, any storms that do go severe will quickly die down. Up to .50″ of rain will be possible in many spots, with localized heavier amounts. Overnight lows will bottom out in the mid to upper 70s, with winds out of the north under 8 mph.

SUNDAY: S potty showers and thunderstorms are possible through early-morning Sunday. Most of the day will be dry but a few storms could develop south of HWY 50 by late afternoon and into the evening. The passing cold front responsible for the storms chances will bring relief from the heat, with high temperatures staying in the mid 90s. Excessive heat warnings will still be in effect for most of Mid-Missouri through Sunday evening.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will be seasonal for Monday and Tuesday, dropping back into the upper 80s. However, a warm front will move through Tuesday, bringing a slight chance of storms along with rising heat and humidity for the second half of next week. High temperatures are expected to climb back into the lower 90s. For additional weather updates follow us @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
