Hot today, storms this weekend followed by cooler temperatures
TODAY: Temperatures will climb quickly under sunny skies, breaking into the 90s by 10 AM and topping out in the upper 90s by the afternoon. The humidity will make it feel like 104 to 110 in the afternoon as winds come in from the southwest up to 10 mph.
TONIGHT: Another warm night is in store for mid-Mo as overnight lows are dropping only into the mid to upper 70s under mostly clear skies. It will be muggy, but dry as winds remain out of the south at 5-7 mph.
EXTENDED: It will stay dry through Saturday but rain chances increase Saturday evening in northern Missouri as a cold front approaches. Storms will increase north of I-70 after 7 PM Saturday and move south overnight. There is a marginal severe threat Saturday evening for northeastern mid-Mo. Risks include isolated large hail or damaging wind gusts. Spotty showers and t-storms are possible through mid-morning Sunday then we’ll dry out briefly until later in the afternoon. Scattered storms will redevelop near I-70, moving south and ending late Sunday night. This will bring relief from the heat with high temperatures staying near 90 Sunday. Temperatures will be seasonal for Monday and Tuesday, dropping back into the upper 80s. However, the cold front will turn around as a warm front and move back in Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing a slight chance of storms and rising heat and humidity for the second half of next week as high temperatures climb back into the lower 90s.
