Sultry weather expected through weeks end

TODAY: It will be another hot and humid afternoon across Mid-Missouri. Throughout the day we will see temperatures reaching into the upper 90s with a southwesterly breeze under 10 mph. Heat indices will be in the triple digits reaching near 106 degrees in some places, with hotter conditions off to the west.

TONIGHT: It will be a very similar night to the past few, as skies will remain mostly clear. Temperatures will be warm, bottoming out in the mid to upper 70s with muggy conditions. Winds will be light out of the south up to 6 mph.

EXTENDED: The heat continues to build for the end of the week as high temperatures reach the mid to upper 90s and heat indices climb to 104-107. It will stay dry through Saturday but rain chances increase Saturday evening in northern Missouri as a cold front drops south. Storms will be possible north of I-70 Saturday evening, pushing south into Sunday morning. Most areas will stay dry until Sunday afternoon and evening as scattered storms are possible. This will bring relief from the heat with high temperatures staying in the lower 90s Sunday. Rain moves out for the majority of mid-Mo Sunday night. Areas south of mid-Missouri could see a continued rain chance into Monday the cold front moves into southern Missouri. Temperatures will be seasonal for Monday and Tuesday. However, the cold front will turn around as a warm front and move back in Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing another chance of storms and rising temperature and humidity for the second half of next week.
