Heat wave through Saturday, weekend storms

TONIGHT: It will be warm and muggy as overnight lows bottom out in the mid 70s. Skies will remain mostly clear with a breeze under 7 mph.

THURSDAY: The morning will start off warm under mostly sunny skies and afternoon temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s as winds stay under 10 mph from the southwest. Heat indices will climb to 106 in the afternoon.

EXTENDED: The heat continues to build for the end of the week as high temperatures reach the mid to upper 90s and heat indices climb to 104-107. It will stay dry through Saturday but rain chances increase Saturday evening in northern Missouri as a cold front drops south. Storms will be possible north of I-70 Saturday evening, pushing south into Sunday morning. Most areas will stay dry until Sunday afternoon and evening as scattered storms are possible. This will bring relief from the heat with high temperatures staying in the lower 90s Sunday. Rain moves out Sunday night, leaving us with a dry and seasonal day Monday as the cold front moves into southern Missouri. However, this front will turn around as a warm front and move back in Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing another chance of storms and rising temperature and humidity for the second half of next week.
