Excessive heat watch for this week

MONDAY: Th e start of our work week will have a sunny and dry start to the morning. Temperatures will increase into the lower 90s with heat indices hot and uncomfortable in the upper 90s. Some relief will come by the evening with temperatures bearable in the lower 80s and a gentle easterly wind around 3-6 mph.

TONIGHT: Dry conditions will persist for the overnight hours with mostly clear skies. Temperatures will drop to 70 degrees with a light easterly breeze.

EXTENDED: The building ridge from the west will continue to allow dry and hot weather along with high humidity for next week. Temperatures will reach the mid 90s by Tuesday and into the upper 90s by Wednesday through Friday. Heat indices will climb back into the triple digits starting Tuesday through the end of the week. There is an excessive heat watch in effect for most mid-Missouri counties from Tuesday afternoon until Saturday night. This is as we expect heat indices to exceed 105 degrees for a good portion of the week. Take precautions to stay cool and hydrated.
