Victim dies after shooting on I-70 and Highway 63 connector

UPDATE 4:43 P.M.: ABC 17 News learned on Thursday that Hurt was taken to Rusk Rehabilitation Center in Columbia four days after the shooting on the connector. Hurt was also set to appear in court on Tuesday for driving with a revoked license.

Rusk Rehabilitation sent a letter saying that Hurt couldn’t appear and his discharge date was July 28. The Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office told ABC 17 News that Hurt was taken from Rusk back to University Hospital in the past few days, where he died in the emergency room.

Once an autopsy on Hurt is complete, the prosecutor can look at new charges for the now deadly shooting.

ORIGINAL STORY: ABC 17 News has confirmed that a victim that was shot at the I-70 and 63 connector on June 26 has died from his gunshot wounds.

Quenten Hurt, 25, has been identified as the victim. ABC 17 News confirmed with the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office, who also referred to the investigation as a homicide.

Denico Sanchez Crawley, 30, of Columbia was arrested as the suspect in this case.

ABC 17 previously reported that court documents said Crawley pulled up alongside the victims’ vehicle while both were merging onto I-70 from Business Loop. The victims said he fired several times toward the driver’s side of the victims’ vehicle. Both of the victims were hit multiple times.

Police said Crawley and the female victim were previously in an intimate relationship. Police said Monday’s incident was domestic and that Crawley was mad at the female victim for who she was dating, which was Hurt.
