Cole County Jail adding two supervisor positions

Two supervisor positions will be added to the staff at the Cole County Jail in Jefferson City. They have already been through two internal promotions.

The jail currently has 107 paid employees, both full and part-time, to manage over 130 inmates.

Based on the first half of 2017 the jail expects to exceed expectations for revenue. “we’ve already increased our revenue by 327,000,” Sheriff John Wheeler said. “We’re going to be at $1.2 million, and some change (at the end of the year).”

Everyone at the jail currently works on a 12-hour shift system. The addition of two positions will allow for two supervisors to be present at once rather than one.

The Boone County Jail currently has 13 openings.
