Cold front will bring storms followed by cooler temps
Thursday afternoon we will see a weak cold front track into mid-Missouri bringing drastically changing conditions behind it. The timing of the arrival of storms has been difficult, in part thanks to rainfall in northern Missouri from earlier this morning.
Storms look possible to fire up north of I-70 today after 12 PM, with the best timing later in the afternoon, after 2 PM.
These storms will track to the south through the evening hours tonight, moving south of I-70 Friday morning. Areas to the south, around the lake of the Ozarks, can expect scattered thunderstorms during the morning commute.
These storms aren’t looking to develop in well defined line, but we still could see potentially damaging winds, along with some small hail.
All of mid-Missouri is under a marginal threat for severe weather.
Before this front completely passes, mid-Missouri is still under a heat advisory until 7 PM this evening. Heat indices today will still be high, in the upper 90s, but most areas won’t be seeing indices rise into the triple digits.
Once the front moves through, Friday afternoon will see dry and less humid conditions with high temperatures back in the 80s. The entire weekend will remain dry with temperatures right around average.
