Arrest made in officer-involved shooting in Brookfield

An arrest has been made in the officer-involved shooting on July 2 in Brookfield, Missouri, Jason R. Buckallew, 39, of Brookfield, Missouri, was arrested on a Linn County felony warrant for the following felony first degree assault, felony serious physical injury or special victim and felony armed criminal action.

Buckallew was released and will appear in Linn County court on August 17, 2017.

On July 2, the Brookfield Police Department began a pursuit on South Main Street, near Helm Street. The vehicle fleeing was an all-terrain vehicle that had been observed driving in a careless manner. At approximately 10:50 p.m., in the 300 block of East Sedgwick, the vehicle entered private property and was forced to turn around.

A Brookfield police officer had exited his vehicle and was on foot attempting to contact the driver of the ATV. The ATV then struck the Brookfield police officer. The police officer discharged his department-issued gun, hitting the suspect twice.
