Heat indices in the triple digits once again

TODAY: Temperatures will start off warm, in the 70s. Into the afternoon expect another hot, humid day with mostly sunny skies. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s and heat indices will climb as high as 104, and even higher in northwestern mid-Mo. There is a heat advisory in effect for Macon, Saline, and Chariton counties until 7 PM on Wednesday. Heat indices in these counties are expected to exceed 104 degrees through the afternoon hours on both days. Winds will remain out of the south up to 10 mph. TONIGHT: Another mild and muggy night is in store as lows only drop into the mid 70s. Winds will remain out of the southwest at 5-8 mph. Humidity values will remain intact so it will be muggy through the evening. EXTENDED: As we head into the middle of the week, the heat and humidity continue. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s Wednesday with heat indices near 105 in the afternoon. Storms are possible late Wednesday night into early Thursday with the best chance north of I-70 as a cold front slowly moves south. A few more storms could develop again late in the day Thursday but will become more likely Friday as the cold front moves south across all of Mid-Missouri. Temperatures will still be hot Thursday, depending on cloud cover from storms. Areas north of I-70 will stay in the low 90s but farther south, mid 90s will be reachable with heat indices at 100-104. Temperatures will come down a few more degrees Friday with a better chance of storms, keeping high temperatures near 90 and heat indices in the mid to upper 90s. We will stay near 90 for highs this weekend with a slight storm chance Saturday as we dry up by Sunday. For additional weather updates follow us @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter and like us on Facebook.
