Heat advisory in effect until 7 PM
A heat advisory has been issued for Saline, Chariton, and Macon counties until 7 PM on Wednesday. High humidity and heat will cause heat indices to rise into the triple digits. Areas under this advisory can expect the temperatures to feel upwards to 106 degrees as you step out the door.
This weather can make heat related illnesses more likely. It’s recommended to avoid prolonged exposure in the sun, stay hydrated, and wear loose fitted clothing. If you must spend time outdoors during the peak daytime heat, allow for breaks in the shade and indoors. In the direct sunlight temperatures can feel upwards to 15 degrees warmer than the shade.
