Moberly man arrested in theft, property damage investigation

Moberly police on Friday arrested a 38-year-old man accused of stealing and damaging property.

Officers were called to the 400 block of West Coates Street and the 500 block of West End Street Friday morning for reports of stolen property and property damage. Police said $1,400 worth of items were stolen and there was $1,700 in damaged property.

Police arrested a suspect later in the day on suspicion of stealing, property damage, forgery and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers said they were able to recover much of the stolen items. The department said his name won’t be released until formal charges are filed.

Police said more arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
