Columbia could find out how much it owes Ryan Ferguson
A bench trial is scheduled for the man previously convicted of killing a Columbia Tribune sports editor.
Ryan Ferguson is expected to appear in court on Monday to find out how much the City of Columbia could owe him.
Court documents show he’s requesting money for his defense and loss of income.
Ferguson’s family said it incurred $150,000 worth of legal fees for his trial defense.
According to Ferguson’s financial advisor, Dr. Karen Grossman Tabak, Ferguson’s unemployed income loss from July 1, 2007, to July 10, 2017, has reached $462,903.
Ferguson spent nearly a decade in prison for the 2001 murder of Kent Heitholt before his conviction was overturned and he was released in 2013.
