Lingering showers and storms through Wednesday evening
WEDNESDAY: Rain and storms are scattered across Mid-Missouri, with temperatures struggling to climb out of the lower 70s. With low clouds and rain, fog is forming in localized spots across the region. Temperatures through the day will climb into the upper 70s, as rain continues to linger through the day. No severe weather is expected, but there could be periods of heavy rain across parts of the area. Winds for the most part, will be a nice breeze out of the NE under 10 mph.
TONIGHT: Wet conditions that we saw through the day on Wednesday will be gradually drying by the overnight hours. Skies will remain partly cloudy and begin to clearly from the northwest to southeast by the morning. The northeast winds will subside allowing for a chance of fog by the morning hours.
EXTENDED: We will have drier conditions on Thursday with high temperatures near 90 and heat indices in the lower 90s. A cold front will drop into northern Missouri Thursday night moving south through Friday morning. Storms in northern Missouri along this front will move southeast overnight Thursday and will weaken. Areas north of I-70 could have a severe storm as these move in after 10PM with main threats quarter size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. As the rain moves south, it will become spotty with rain remaining north of I-70. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s Friday, dropping into the mid 80s for the weekend. We’ll have to watch for rain chances in western Missouri, possibly affecting areas near HWY 65 Saturday morning as a complex of storms moves southeast. The same pattern is expected for Sunday morning but storms could make it farther east. We will have updates the weekend rain chances as new data comes in.
