Humidity and heat on the increase, before a cooler weekend

Following a rainy and cool Wednesday, Thursday’s temperatures will rebound back into the 90s. A ridge to the west will build into mid-Missouri, allowing for heat and humidity to be on the increase. Temperatures will start out cooler in the upper 60s, but will quickly rise into the upper 80s by mid-day. Highs will max out in the lower 90s, with heat indices in the mid 90s. Thursday will remain dry.

As we head into Friday, a weak cold will approach from the north, sending temps back into the 80s on Friday and even cooler for the weekend. As this cold front tracks into mid-Mo there is a slight chance for rain in our northern most counties. Timing with this looks to be after midnight and into Friday morning.

With this there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms north of I-70. Severe threats include potentially damaging winds and large hail.
