Eclipse 2017 is seven weeks away

Eclipse 2017 is seven weeks away.

While many people have made their plans for Aug. 21 , there is one variable that’s much more difficult to plan: the weather.

Although it’s too early to get an exact and accurate forecast, we can look at historical data from the National Weather Service.

The NWS out of St. Louis actually offers the odds of inclement weather vs. clear sky.

According to the NWS, it will be around 85 degrees at eclipse time, just after 1 p.m.

There is a 7 percent chance of rain, which is typically not even worth reporting.

But the big concern is cloudiness.

Columbia has a 31 percent chance of cloudiness, while Jefferson City has a 22 percent chance of a cloudy sky.

It’s important to remember this is a long-term weather forecast based on climatological data and much can change between now and Aug. 21.
