More storms Thursday night, severe threat continues

TONIGHT: Storms will continue to move along and north of I-70 , gradually shifting southeast overnight. These will produce heavy rain and flooding is likely along and north of HWY 24 due to saturated ground from recent rain.

FRIDAY: Morning showers and storms will weaken and move southeast, ending by early afternoon. As a cold front slowly moves south of I-70 into the afternoon hours, additional storms could develop in the Ozarks from late afternoon through the evening. There is a chance of isolated severe storms south of HWY 50 with the main threats 60 mph winds and quarter size hail. Storms will move south of I-44 Friday evening with drier weather late Friday night and into the weekend. Highs will stay in the low to mid 80s Friday with lower humidity behind the cold front.

EXTENDED: This weekend looks dry until late-day Sunday with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s but not as humid. However, as we head into next week the cold front lifts northward as a warm front, and sets the stage for another active start to the work week with an increasing chance of storms Sunday night into Monday. The humid weather returns Monday as high temperatures reach the mid-upper 80s. Periods of storms are likely through the middle of next week with seasonal temperatures, reaching the mid to upper 80s each day.
