A preliminary look at the 4th of July forecast

After storms move through mid-Mo by Friday, Saturday afternoon is looking to be the only day this 4th of July weekend without a chance of rain. Following a cold front that passes on Friday, Saturday’s temperatures will remain in the mid 80s with less humid conditions.

As we head into Sunday morning, we will wake up to dry conditions and temperatures in the upper 60s. Sunday afternoon is when an active weather pattern resumes for possibly the remainder of the holiday weekend. A warm front will lift to the north causing for increasing storm chance Sunday into Monday. Southerly flow will create for warm and muggy conditions on Monday.

Latest forecast models are showing a continued chance of spotty storms through the day and into the evening on Tuesday. As of now, Independence Day holds a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Exact timing and location can’t be pinned down yet, however the 4th of July holiday is looking to be a wet one.
