Heat, humidity and storm chances return

TONIGHT: It will be a dry, mild night across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures only bottom out in the mid-60s. Mostly clear skies are expected overnight, with southerly winds under 8 mph.

WEDNESDAY: It will be a pleasant start to the day, but temperatures and humidity will begin to increase. We will have a slight chance for morning showers north of HWY 24 through late-morning. It will begin to feel more like June with high temperatures in the upper 80s, partly cloudy skies and southerly winds up to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Storms in northern Missouri Wednesday evening will move south and weaken, affecting mainly areas north of I-70 overnight. We’ll need to watch for a few strong or severe storms as these move into areas north of I-70. Isolated damaging wind and large hail are possible.
EXTENDED: There is a slight chance of showers early Thursday morning, remnants of overnight storms but most of the day will be dry with highs in the upper 80s. Thursday evening, a line of storms in northwestern Missouri will move southeast to near HWY 24 7-9 PM, moving south overnight. We’ll have to watch these storms for the potential of producing damaging wind and large hail. These could also produce heavy rain. Showers and storms will be possible Friday morning, moving south to I-44 by early afternoon with drier weather moving in by Friday evening. Right now, Saturday looks dry with highs in the mid 80s and less humidity behind the cold front. As this front turns around as a warm front and moves north Sunday, storm chances will increase from south to north in the afternoon and evening. Storm chances continue Monday and the 4th of July as high temperatures stay in the mid to upper 80s. For additional weather updates follow us @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter and like us on Facebook.
