Active and stormy week ahead for Mid-Missouri

TONIGHT: Thanks to Canadian high pressure, we will see another unseasonably cool night across Mid-Missouri. Temperatures will bottom out in the mid 50s, with increasing clouds through the night. Winds will be light out of the west under 8 mph.

MONDAY: Morning showers are possible through the morning near I-44 between 3-6AM, as a line of showers increases from the west. Clouds will be on the increase through the day ahead of an upper level disturbance that will bring an increase in shower activity through the day. A few thunderstorms are possible, but overall most of the activity will be light to moderate shower activity. It will be cool for June standards, as highs only top out in the mid 70s across Mid-Missouri, with winds out of the southwest under 8 mph. Rainfall amounts from .25″ to .50″ is possible, with greatest accumulation occurring west of Highway 63.

EXTENDED: Into Tuesday we will see the return of 80s in the forecast, with a gradual warming trend. Tuesday will also be the driest day of the next seven. Humidity levels will rise through the week, with temperatures climbing back into the upper 80s. Active weather looks likely as we head into the end of next week, as a cold front will slowly track through Missouri. This will set the stage for very heavy rainfall and the potential for some isolated flash flooding areas. Strong storms can’t be ruled out, but for now it’s looking to be storms below severe criteria. Rainfall amounts through the weekend will likely exceed three inches in many places. By the weekend, temperatures once again fall below normal, with highs back in the lower 80s. For additional weather updates follow us @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter and like us on Facebook.
